From 26th through to 30th September 2022, Scottish International Week enjoyed its 7th year with a wealth of online conferences produced by the Scottish Business Network and a long-awaited return to in-person events! As well as interviews, panel discussions and networking sessions, a new format was added this year - "Ask me anything". As the name suggests, Russell was found in the hot seat joined by the SBN team ready to answer members questions and help move their businesses forward. The events were quick-fire, focused, and aimed to deliver immediate executable value.
For those wanting to chat in person, the Digital DNA conference in Glasgow served as the anchor event of the week with the Scottish Business Network presenting and exhibiting. Bright Red Triangle, Edinburgh Napier University’s Enterprise Hub, also hosted a number of exciting offline sessions including 'Connecting the LGBT+ Business Community in the UK and Beyond'. This event was produced in collaboration with Out Britain - the UK’s First LGBT+ Chamber’s of Commerce; Connecting, supporting and growing the UK LGBT+ business community, and uniting it with the rest of the world.
Towards the end of the week, guests were invited to enjoy a moment of calm at MBN Solutions Glasgow, of which Russell is a Non-Exec Director, delivered by The Moment Company.
"In amongst networking, speaking and hosting I was reminded by Fiona McKinnon of the Moment Company of the need to ensure I avoided any risk of "overdoing it". Fiona and partner Alex Strang delivered a wonderful session on Thursday morning before I attended the CENSIS summit, where they shared their amazing program based on making time for mindful micro pauses throughout the day." - Russell Dalgleish
This was followed (for those lucky enough to grab a highly sought after ticket!) with the annual CENSIS Tech Summit at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall where some of Scotland's leading innovators gathered.
The Summit takes the form of talks, panels and expert-led sessions but also provides a unique platform for innovators to share their solutions to some our planets biggest challenges from their exhibition stands. Congratulations to Paul Winstanley, Stephen Milne, Siân Williams, the whole CENSIS team and of course the tremendous speakers who not only shared insight but also entertained visitors fully.
"It's been a real privilege to spend two days in Glasgow this week and at both the CENSIS summit and Digital DNA I believe that Glasgow (and Scotland) has shown her best face to the world. Now the call must be to continue to build from here and support these organisations, companies and individuals who strive to deliver a better world for us all through the application of technology and intellectual thought." - Russell Dalgleish
